Ben became a parishioner at St. John's when he moved to North Cambridge in 2018 and is active in the parish's music and young adult ministries. Before moving to Cambridge he taught music at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine and he holds a PhD in music theory from Columbia University. A native of Minnesota, Ben completed undergraduate degrees at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. He maintains a close relationship with the associated, Benedictine monastery, Saint John's Abbey, where he is an Oblate. He currently works at the MIT Teaching + Learning Lab teaching pedagogy to graduate students and postdocs.
